About this Blog

Welcome to the NCCU Model UN Resources Blog

Greetings! My name is Mikele, I'm a student studying Chinese at the Chinese Language Center at National Chengchi University, I teach/advise/coach Model UN at the NCCU Model UN Club (called YAIC) and I am the creator of this blog as well as the Secretary-General for the NCCUMUN conference. As an international student from the United States, when I came to Taiwan, and especially when entering the Taiwanese Model UN scene, I found myself constantly comparing the Taiwanese Circuit with the North American Circuit from back home. One of the aspects of the Taiwanese circuit that I found to be truly unfortunate is the fact that it is very hard to get better at Model UN here in Taiwan. Model UN clubs usually only hold a handful of meetings per semester, and only a few, experienced delegates who have had the privilege to attend several conferences are the ones who hold all of the knowledge, and save for a few short guides, there are almost no resources online for students to use to improve their Model UN abilities. This is why I have created this Model UN Resources Blog; so that students from across Taiwan can come here to find useful tips and tricks as well as diverse perspectives on how to improve in Model UN.

Here's how it works. This blog is to be open for submissions from ANYONE, even people outside Taiwan (if for some reason someone outside Taiwan wants to contribute to the blog). Articles can be written in either English or Chinese and they will be screened by myself and a group of editors composed of experienced MUNers. We will check to make sure that 1. the article is written correctly with no grammatical errors and is understandable to read and 2. that the article aligns with the NCCUMUN Core Documents, and 3. that the article is not just an opinion piece, but actually helps people improve their clubs, conferences, or as individual delegates. For example, we would not accept an article that is encouraging people to create solutions and clauses and NOT have evidence for why they might be effective as this would be directly contradictory to our awarding standards (See section "Critical Thinking, Research, and Preparation," point 5 in the Awarding Standards).

The goal of this blog is to provide a platform for people to share tips, tricks, and the skills that people learn in MUN with the world (though especially Taiwan) while maintaining high standards for respect and diplomacy. Feel free to submit articles anonymously if you wish to do so and if you have any questions, comments, concerns, or if you need help writing your article, feel free to reach out to us via DM on Instagram at @nccumunconference or submit feedback to us via our Anonymous Feedback Form: https://forms.gle/27q94hJS6T8aSAf39 We hope to see your article submissions soon!
